Thanks for this. I lead a San Francisco-based nonprofit, The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign, that works on a variety of fronts — research, education, advocacy—to advance the legacy of Emperor Norton. Among our strong interests is all the ways in which — since the early 1860s—artists and writers have taken up the Emperor as a muse. So, we always keep a weather eye out for new visual artworks, new songs and, yes, new poems. This one—more complex than it appears—bears repeated reading.
